Gabbadah is the original name of the town of Guilderton or ‘Moore River’. My main body of work has evolved from a deep connection to the Gabbadah dunes and waterways. My figurative clay work embeds the individual in the land, reflective of my feelings when I am fully immersed in these experiences of nature.
The globular weed balls of back beach in Lancelin have always been a favourite of mine and have found their way into my work alongside reflections of the country around Lake Argyle in the Kimberley from a recent stay there and camping at the Bluff at Trephina Gorge. My painting style, often initiated en plein air, has evolved from these experiences on country with a happy move towards stronger mark making and further abstracting elements of the landscape.
