Last Thursday marked the opening night of Caroline Juniper’s exhibition at Earlywork Gallery on the bustling main drag in South Fremantle. The evening was brimming with laughter and exuberance as the work itself offered nostalgia and connection amongst its admirers. Many people who attended the opening show have followed Caroline’s journey as a screen print artist from her days living, teaching and creating in Fremantle during the early 1990s.
On the night, an array of colourful scenes were splashed over the walls, which were tastefully coordinated with Caroline’s Frida Kahlo-esq dress and unified through her vibrant nature.
The vividly coloured prints found onlookers recognising familiar places which no longer exist due to deterioration or town developments, inspiring memories with vigour of imagination. The evening was reminiscent of the old Freo days, with Caroline’s old friends and family coming together over a shared affinity with her beautiful work.
With a Beerfarm can in one hand and the other pointing to a compelling image of the Rottnest Settlement, old and recent works danced side by side in one room.
Caroline’s work will be staying up until the 22nd of April and, if you missed out on the full experience last Thursday, it is recommended you head down now to check out what it’s all about.
