‘A Celebration of Life’ brings together all the works I have created this year in light of my Year 12 Independent Project. As a key part of the Steiner Curriculum we are to complete a yearlong Project. It is valued for its capacity to significantly enhance individual learning and personal development. The approach is aimed at developing a diverse range of attributes, knowledge and skills for future education, work and life. It consists of four components; the Written, the Practical, the Oral Presentation and lastly the Journal. This exhibition is part of my practical submission. Within my project I am studying ‘How the representation of the human body in various art-forms has evolved through the ages’. Ever since we set foot on this earth, humans have created drawings, paintings and sculptures. The change in how the human figure has been represented through time reflects changing cultural values, but also our human consciousness.  Through the mediums of oil on canvas, sketches, photographs and sculpture I aim to represent a celebration of the human body in its organic form.  However, behind each piece is the intention to embody the human figure in its raw and tender divinity.
